Why use openMosix?

In addition to the capabilities of MOSIX:

oMFS - openMosix File System and DFSA - Direct File System Access
The DFSA layer on top of oMFS moves the process to the data whenever it would be more efficient
Node autodiscovery/fail-over daemon already implemented in the user land tools via multicast messaging
A computer can join and leave the cluster as desired (e.g., a workstation can be part of a cluster 5p - 8a)
openMosix is a developed by the users themselves
Distributed Shared Memory is available as a patch (considered beta code for now)

- openMosixview -> the main monitoring+admistration application
- openMosixprocs -> a process-box for managing processes
- openMosixcollector -> collecting daemon which logs cluster+node informations
- openMosixanalyzer -> for analyzing the data collected by the openMosixcollector
